Technical Stores Manager

Location Borehamwood, United Kingdom
Date Posted June 22, 2018
Category Administration
Job Type Full-time
Salary £25,000 to £32,000 a.e.

Description

(Project Administration Manager)

Our client is a dynamic, expanding company, involved in the development, assembly and supply of chemistry laboratory analytical equipment. This equipment is sold to laboratories worldwide to develop new chemicals, plastics and medicines. The mechanical part of the designs is often central to the products and consists of stirred vessels (sometimes under pressure made of various alloys), often heated/cooled and integrated into a structure that also encases electronics.

They are now looking for an experienced person who is well organised and with good IT skills to provide support to their engineering group by liaising with key parts and components suppliers, managing customer enquiries and being responsible for the stock levels of parts/spares in the stores.

The ideal candidate should have several years’experience in a supervisory position, working in a busy office/stores environment (e.g. technical parts stores/automotive stores/car dealership parts department etc.), with a background in providing advice and assistance to customers on parts and spares via telephone, or e-mail. You must be capable of handling multiple tasks and able to work effectively with existing staff with varying specialisations in order to ensure the correct information is obtained and given to customers.

In terms of supplier interaction, the role will entail chasing up prices and deliveries either for stock, or for current projects and making this information available to engineers.  Price negotiation and decisions on suitable stock levels will also be an important part of the job.

Client enquiries typically include the need for service/repairs and requests for price information. This will involve working with engineering staff to undertake the work, organising quotations, keeping clients informed on progress and packing and preparing the parts/spares for shipment (please note: manual handling involved).

Supervision of an existing staff member involved in some stock management and who is fully conversant with ordering and shipping procedures will be required. Together you will be responsible for all stock management and goods in/out.   Ability to put working systems and procedures in place to expedite the jobs will be important. Close support from technical staff will be important in executing the tasks, especially at the start.
